Neko started with a problem every cat owner knows too well.

In late 2021, Julie and Marco, student partners living in Berlin were trying to plan their first proper vacation together. But every trip idea ended the same way: “What about Marley?” Their cat, adopted during lockdown, had no one else. No family nearby. No neighbors to help. And they couldn’t stay away long between feedings, the litter box, and Marley’s anxiety, anything over two days felt impossible.

After canceling yet another trip, they decided to stop looking for a solution and build one instead.

In early 2022, they started working on what would become NekoSmart—a smart, self-cleaning litter box designed to make short and long trips stress-free for cat parents. 
Soon after came NekoBite, the automatic feeder that keeps your cat’s routine steady, even if you're far from home.

Today, Neko is still run by Julie and Marco, and a small team of animal lovers who believe pet care should be easier, smarter, and more reliable—especially when life pulls you away from home. We test every product ourselves, support every customer personally, and build with the one goal in mind: helping people like us stop worrying when they walk out the door.
